With the growing trends of technology in the printing industry, there is need for more advanced technology and systems. This is the reason behind the developments in the printing industry that have led to the creation and development of higher definition and more realistic images. This paper focuses on the design and development of a system specifically aimed at making 3D printing a reality.
According to research, there are minimal cases of attempts to develop such a system that appreciated 3D printing. This is purely in a bid to present quality printing to the customers that are appealing tothe eyes. However, this is not a purely new system into the market. On the contrary, it’s a system that will develop on the already existing systems and services to improve on quality. The probability of the system booming is so high since it’s a very wide gap that has been identified in the printing industry.

Problems the system aims at solving

As mentioned earlier, there has been a gap for quality and appealing prints in the printing industry. The system focuses on offering a solution to this challenge by ensuring high quality and appealing prints. With the growing trends into an information society, there is so much need for quality prints that will compete with the soft materials at the disposal of users. If prints are appealing, then there is a high possibility of the printing industry remaining persistent in the market even in the existence of soft copy and online materials.
Most of the prints have not been able to utilize the multimedia aspects of printing. In most cases prints are purely in words because of less capable machinery and lagging behind of the printing industry. This system focuses on ensuring other media like graphs and pictures are printed with high quality printouts that can be seen clearly on the papers. This too will help improve the status of the printing industry in the contemporary information age and digital environment.
Inclusion of a network into the system will serve to reduce the amount of time taken to make a print. As opposed to in the recent days when prints took so much time to be accomplished, this system will utilize the priority queues and job scheduling mechanisms to ensure faster and efficient printing. The presence of the networks will also help reduce duplication of resources in the printing industry by ensuring resource sharing across the various departments.
There has also been a degree of disorganization in the printing industry, with members who do not know what exactly their role in the industry is. With this system, all members will undergo training and their roles and responsibilities specified to them. This will help a lot in eliminating conflicts of interest and action in the industry. Knowing one’s roles and responsibilities also paves way for responsibility and accountability from the employees over their actions.

The feasibility of proposed solutions

In have a strong belief that the problems stated above will be efficiently solved by this system. As concerns quality printing, computers and other advanced machinery will be adopted to ensure the prints are of high quality. Issues like the mixing of colors will be done automatically by these machines which will produce good sheds and color mixtures as opposed to the manual means of refilling the cartridges. Employment of people trained in the printing sector and also continuously training them will make the production of quality prints possible.
With the multimedia prints, this is possible given the high tech machines and technologies that will be used in making the prints. For instance, the prints will be colored to reveal details and issues of dominance will be highly regarded. High quality papers will also be used in making these multimedia prints possible, as they can handle heavily colored prints without distorting the original appearance of images.
As already mentioned, time management will be ensured by use of technologies that support priority queues and job scheduling mechanisms. This way, customers with small jobs will not feel offended by having to wait for a very long time for their prints to be ready. On the same note, customers with heavy loads will understand why their jobs will take time but eventually receive quality prints. This is already a reality on other operational sectors in the market hence the assurance of the system succeeding.
Duplication of resources and service has also been a persistent problem in the printing industry. This system also addresses this challenge by creating networks to aid communication across the various departments. It’s also on this network that various resources will be shared, reducing the quantity of resources required and increasing on quality.

The operational, program, and storage requirements

As regards operational requirements, the system will need some computers and other devices for effective functionality. Among the devices that will be needed are computers, high tech printers, scanners, photocopiers, and storage devices. There is also need for network devices like routers and topology cables that will make communication fast and efficient. Other communication devices like phones may also be needed in case the other means of communication fail or simply as backup plans for efficient communication.
It’s true that machines in a system cannot operate themselves. This, therefore, calls for a number of human resources to ensure functionality of the above mentioned operational devices. However, a printing industry is sensitive and calls for professionalism and competence of the workers. This means people to be recruited should be conversant with the already existing systems of printing for them to fully utilize the capabilities of the 3D printing system to be implemented.
There are also program requirements that should be met for the system to be considered whole and effective. One of the requirements is to ensure modularity of the system with some modeling abilities. It should also be compatible to most of the platforms like Microsoft to ensure universality and standardization. There are also different types of architectures that could be utilized
Storage means and devices for the prints and the waiting prints will also be needed. For sustenance, there is need for favorable storage for the prints to ensure they do not wear and tear easily. Temperatures, humidity levels, lighting and other factors that re threats to the print outs should be regulated. Storage areas should also be free of other environmental, biological and human threats to ensure security of the products of the printing industry.


There are very high possibilities that the system will gain acceptance in the market. This is possible with the developing trends in technology which have the ability to ensure sustenance of business models and applications. It’s also possible that most of the untouched parts and services as regards printing will be explored by the 3D printing system hence satisfaction to the customers.
