Abstract

For a long time, the question that lingers in mobile phone users and manufacturers is what kind of features and characteristics do phones that are used by the elderly have and what ways should be used to improve these features. For a long time, young users have been known to be the most active users of mobile phones and have been known to explore the fullest benefits that come with these phones. Although this is the case, there is asharp rising need for the elderly to be active in mobile use due to the fact that the functionalities that come with the phones aid the elderly to operate in an independent way. This research will attempt to look at the features of mobile phones that are used by the elderly and also which look at the ways in which they can be improved. It will also look at eth features which are of no use to the users at all. Getting to know the actual use of mobile phones and the experiences that come with the elderly gives us very important insight in ways in which mobile phone design can be improved and features that can be used for the elderly. It will analyse the usage of mobile devices by making use of various Technology Acceptance Models (TAM) that have been developed to gauge the acceptance of various innovative products that are introduced in the market from time to time. The researcher projects that one model will come out clearly and will be preferred in the long run.
