Human resource management is an important pillar of any organization that is required for its smooth functioning. It is responsible for various tasks that begin from hiring of employees to making use of their skills for the betterment of the organization.
In the present times, a lot of focus is being given to the development of leadership in the employees. It is important to recognize those individuals who have leadership qualities so that they can be further groomed and escalated and also creates a healthy competition to achieve better amongst the employees (Gist, 1987).
There are a few qualitiesthat are inborn in many individuals who are said to possess leadership qualities, and this includes steering the situation to achieve their objective. It involves good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people from different socioeconomic and mental levels (Gollan, 2005).
Further development of these skills includes being able to create an idea for the improvement of the organization, handle various problems faced by the organization in a coherent manner, educate and guide the juniors and coworkers. Human resource management is also faced with the challenge of assessing employees’ competency that is the balance between his knowledge, expertise, and drive for work and dealing with the colleagues. These traits single out potential leaders and give the human resource management department to create better opportunities and incentives.
A lot of emphases is being put on the education of the employees which helps develop and enhance the leadership skills (Hollenbeck, 1997). It works by providing the employees more knowledge and thus better performance which leads to a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. It also ensures that that their growth is not restricted, and they are being benefited by the organization through these training programs.
