The nostalgic record store business requires information systems for efficient management. These information systems serve different purposes according to their structure. The basic five systems that can have a great impact in this business include;
– Functional area IS
– Transaction Processing IS
– Office automation IS
– Management IS
– Expert information systems
Transactional information system
Transaction information system is a basic record keeping and accountingsystem that tracks all the daily transactions to conduct business. A point of sales is an example of TPS, and because the business is a retail venture, it needs one such system. TPS is critical to business processes.
MIS
Management information system is used by the management to derive detailed reports. It manipulates data within the system to produce an in-depth report for decision making purposes.
FAIS
Functional area information system supports the activities within a specific area. For instance in profiling employees and preparing payrolls, functional area information system is utilized in handy in this field. This system can automatically process, monitor, and calibrate employee information and profiles.
Office automation IS
Office automation systems provide the necessary avenue for staff interaction and communication through software programs that make work easier. Employees are given application software’s and office automation systems for better interaction and ease of work.
Expert information systems
This kind of systems mimics human expertise in a particular field and make decisions based on the prevailing scenarios.
