Today, I want to have a discussion with you on a major subject of concern: job satisfaction. Job satisfaction refers to how content a person is with his or her occupation. Those individuals who are more contented with their work are said to be satisfied with their job. You should know that job satisfaction is vital because it is an essential element of happiness. My aim is to address on the issue of job satisfaction. Therefore, before I embark on what job satisfaction is, I would like to point out some aspects related to job satisfaction and the realistic effects of job satisfaction.
One aspect of job satisfaction is that of motivation from both financial and non-financial sources. How many people here often get financial motivation in their working environment? Research indicates that most people who receive financial motivation often report satisfaction in their work environments. Money is related to job satisfaction and is a top priority, indicating that finances have a huge effect on the level of satisfaction in one’s employment. However, other than financial motivation, the working environment also matters a lot in how much one loves their job.
This is because if the work environment is psychologically, emotionally and intellectually conducive, one will be more satisfied in the work. One the ways to do this is avoiding associated risks that result from stressing environments as well as becoming more productive in one’s work. Once you become productive, there are higher chances that you will be promoted, which is characterized by salary increment and better work conditions. In addition, job satisfaction is an element of human resource management and I know there are many workers searching for employment opportunities in areas that provide acceptable rewards and a proactive working environment. A satisfying work place is vital because it enables workers do their jobs under optimum conditions.
For example, imagine you are working in a room that is full of dangerous equipment or an environment that has disturbing odors. I know that few people if any will get satisfied in such environments. Therefore, a good working environment is one of the aspects of job satisfaction. This is reasonable because a good working environment enables workers to be competitive and work at their best. For this reason, management should ensure that work places are at their optimum to enable workers work hard towards achieving organizational goals. Another significant factor of job satisfaction is the total strength and health of an organization. This is because the overall performance of customer services depends chiefly on employees’ attitudes. In cases where the employees and workers are friendly and happy, there will be many customers attracted, who will in turn buy more goods from the company thereby building a positive image within and outside the organization.
Heath and Gabriel (57) state that creating good relations with workers is vital in an organization because it enables workers find satisfaction in their job. In addition, one needs to have high level of self-appreciation and happiness when performing a certain task. Therefore, as an employer, one should interact positively with his employees in order to maintain this level of appreciation and happiness.
I am also of the opinion that poor economic conditions often affect the level of job satisfaction. Managers in companies should at the very least try to dedicate themselves to the organization’s success by making sure the work environment is conducive. This is because they will enable their workers to have a good attitude towards working hard and becoming satisfied in their job. What is required in the working environment additionally is better economic conditions. For instance, those people who work in areas that are economically stable and viable have high levels of satisfaction unlike those who work in poor economic conditions. Kate (56) points out that understanding job satisfaction enables workers enjoy their work thus producing high profitability.
Satisfaction derived from a job is considered a fundamental means of achieving health. Did you know that job satisfaction is an essential element of well being? I want those people who have never realized that job satisfaction is one way of maintaining health to know from today that to be satisfied with your job translates to maintaining a healthy body. This is because when one is not satisfied with his or her job, he or she may become stressed. I hope you know the consequences of stress. Indeed, one may develop diseases such as high blood due to stress. Therefore, it is vital to be satisfied and love one’s job in order to avoid consequences that may result from lack it.
