The political action party urging current United States Vice President Joe Biden to participate in the 2016 presidency race has announced that it will be accepting bitcoin donations.
According to a report by The Hill, Draft Biden 2016 will accept donations in the digital currency.
The Draft Biden 2016 campaign will be using BitPay as a payments processor, and donors will be allowed to contribute as much as $100 a year as an in-kind donation.
“ This is in keeping with Vice President Biden’s strong support of technology and innovation throughout his career,” said Draft Biden 2016 director Joseph Schweitzer.
Last year, the US Federal Election Commission ruled in favor of Bitcoin donations after receiving requests from a number of political campaigns aiming to garner support through the digital currency.
Earlier this year, US Senator Rand Paul’s presidential campaign announced that it was accepting Bitcoin.
