When people think aboutwhat they have inherited from their parents the first thing they think about isphysical features, curly hair or a similar shaped nose, but I’ve inherited alot more: a passion for learning, an unquenchable curiosity and dedication tohard work, all of which has served me well throughout my academic career,influencing my early fascination of the workings of life.Idiscovered that the human body is outstanding and is not just limited to onesystem. My love of science is oneof my many reasons for choosing this degree. I appreciate a challengeespecially towards a rewarding objective, for example helping someone achievetheir optimum health and although I am aware of the hardship that can beinvolved in this career, I am also aware of the rewards that can be received,highlighted by many professionals I have spoken to on a personal levelMyfondness of the sciences influenced the selection of my Leaving Certificatechoices. The subjects of biology and chemistry have helped develop both myinterest and knowledge surrounding the being.
Additionally, maths has providedthe relevant aid to hone my analytical and problem-solving skills which in turnhelps me to work logically. Thus, good time management, self-motivated studyskills and ability to cope with intensity of the complex nature of each topicare essential. Iam currently in the process of finalising a placement visit to my localhospital which I have organised for spring.
I expect to be able to observe theday-to-day experience of medical professionals and what is entails in ensuringthat the hospital and its staff are working together coherently to safeguardthe patients. Personally, I cannot wait for this opportunity as I haveconfidence that this insight will stretch my knowledge, provide me with abetter understanding of the experience for those in the medical field andsuggest what is required of me in the futureAdditionally. I enjoy immersing myself in a wide rangeof science related journals as I often crave new ways outside an academic zoneto develop my scientific knowledge. I enjoy watching documentaries and readingthe works of experienced professionals as it helps nurture my alreadyblossoming fascination with the human body, and the promotion of health. Furthermore,I have a wide range of hobbies outside of school which helps me maintain abalanced lifestyle; I At university, I wouldlike to contribute to university life by showcasing my self-motivated,reliable, determined and enthusiastic personality in all that I do; whether academicallyor recreationally. I look forward to taking part in vast opportunitiesavailable such sporting activities.
I can assure you that I will relish theopportunity to be a hardworking and well-rounded student in your establishment.I hope to continue my journey into higher education in a new and diverseenvironment in which I can build on my skills and apply them to this course.I do not necessarily wantto be that individual who tries to change the world, but I would be wholly contentif I could succeed in changing someone’s world through the advancements ofmodern day science.
I am aware of the demands of a medical career, but mycommitment and desire to achieve my goals will strengthen me throughout theprocess. Therefore, I believe that a degree from your University will enable meto begin to make the relevant steps towards fulfilling my pursuit in thehealthcare profession.
