Did you know that India has the second largest population in the world, with over 1.2 billion people (1,205,073,612 as last recorded since July 2012)? India is a country worth visiting because there are so many different foods to try. Different places to explore, and many traditions to learn. It is a beautiful and amazing country, the countries that surround it are South Asian location, including Pakistan, Burma, China, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. Some countries that border India are China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Tibet, Nepal, Burma, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. India has many different foods; Gulab jaamun , Chole Bhature, Rajma, Pakora, kulfi, and Samosas.

The top 6 most popular foods/dishes are Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Rogan Josh, Naan, and lastly but certainly not the least favorite Palak Paneer. In temples people make different vegetarian foods in the kitchen, these foods are made daily for every day / each day for over 100,000 visitors daily. Also, the word “curry” is not said nor talked about that often rather, there is a big diversity of all kinds of curry dishes, each curry dish with their own regional characteristics. According to the Kirstie McCrum WalesOnline, the first Naan bread was made in Persia around 1300 AD, India is home to one of the hottest chilies in the world, the “bhut jolokia”. Also known as the “GHOST CHILI”, it grows in Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur, and is more than 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.

Today, India is a diverse country, with over more than 1.2 billion people, according to the CIA World Factbook, ranking it next to most populous nation after China. There are many different traditions in India, like HOLI. It’s an ancient (very old) festival with the first mentions of it’s dating ALL the way back to a 4th-century poem, as it states on CNN by Manveena Suri “Witness the beauty of the great cupid festival which excites curiosity as the townsfolk are dancing at the touch of brownish water thrown … Everything is colored yellowish red and rendered dusty by the heaps of scented powder blown all over,” wrote Harsha. As it states in Worldatlas “Numerous significant religious traditions that developed within India have become globally important today. These include Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. Meanwhile, Christianity and Islam, with their Middle Eastern origins, have deeply influenced the development of Indian cultural practices.

Most of the artists working in the Indian at this time mixed several artistic traditions, some consciously brought together what might be considered antithetical practices. One such artist is Amrita Sher-Gil (1913–1941), who combined a Post-Impressionist, style of painting that she learned at the art academy in France with approaches used in Indian miniatures. I stated this from THE MET Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History. India has many beautiful places to see, for example, The Golden Temple, The Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb, Hawa Mahal, Khajuraho Temples, Mysore Palace, and the Charminar. As it states in Encyclopedia Britannica Amritsar India the Golden Temple Construction of the Golden Temple began in 1574 on land donated by the Mughal emperor Akbar. In the early 19th century, 100 kg of gold was applied to the inverted lotus-shaped dome and decorative marble was added. All this gold and marble work took place under the patronage of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The legendary warrior king was a major donor of money and materials for the shrine and is remembered with much affection by the Sikh community and Punjabi people. The Charminar was built by the King Quli Qutub Shah in lieu of the memories of her late wife Bhagamathi. So, this shows that it is a symbol of love and affection, this was on World Blaze by Santosh.

Ultimately, India is a country to visit because why not it has many cultures and traditions to learn and foods to try. As the U.S. has a long history of public education than India there are opportunities for India to learn from the successes and failures in the American education system and to collaborate in tackling shared challenges, such as the best use of technology in primary education.
